I was living with my grandmother in our humble little apartment when I was 21. She was half paralyzed and suffered from breast cancer. She spent most of her time watching movies from the 50’s.
She’d watched them over and over.
There were times I would watch a film with her or I’ll be doing something else when I’d suddenly hear Nat King Cole’s voice sail through our living room, she’s watching “An Affair To Remember” again for the nth time. So I guess, in part, watching these films has lead me to appreciate the “look” of that era. Glamorous curls, even skin, that daring red lip, and that flicked eyeliner.
I always incorporate a few elements of the 50’s make-up look when I do makeup. Usually it’s the eyeliner.
This video is a reflection of that. It’s my modern approach. Dewy skin, little contours here and there, a little golden hue of bronzer, a pop of color on the cheeks and a pink lip. And eyeliner of course.

I forgot to mention that prior to filming I already prepped my skin with my regular skin care regimen. I first cleansed my skin with Shisiedo Men Cleansing Foam, to remove excess oil from my skin. I then toned my skin using VMV Hypoallergenics Superskin 3 toner. I followed that with a minute amount of VMV Hypoallergenics Hydrabalance moisturizer all over my face. I finished it off by applying VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Eye Serum. (To read more about my blog about favorite my skin care products, please click here.)
