Remembering the 50’s

The 50’s is my favorite era.

I love the elegance of this time in the world. It has managed to outlive its initial “impact” in the world of makeup and it has continued to inspire current looks.

The bonding continues!

When @mezmira tells me to find my light, it’s automatic.

Laughter has always been part of our shenanigans since circa 2000.

Currently lost in Paris.

Opera Garnier in a minute. Walk with me.

By the time @mezmira and I were finished at Opera Garnier, we were famished. We quickly hoped on the metro and headed to our fave cafe in Paris called Cafe Flore en L’ile. I bumped into this cafe 14 years ago, long before Emily came to Paris. 🤣 You can actually see the back and the flying buttresses of Notre Dame from the left most portion of the cafe. But the cathedral is currently being repaired after catching fire - so it’s all scaffoldings at the moment. Mez and I had some Ravioli for starters and the Plat du Jour of grilled chicken and risotto. We paired it with some Rosé at na bange me. So good though. 😘

After breakfast, @mezmira and I headed for Opera Garnier. We spent a good amount of time here getting to know a bit of it’s history. No space in this builidng was left without a decoration. Such an over the top style that even I can’t place it. I eventually found out it was called “Napoleon III” style. Lots of Mythological elements here which I love! But mind you I was overwhelmed after a few minutes. Lol And since where in such a beautiful space, we might as well put our modeling hat on. 😉😘

Musee Du Louvre at the cusp of morning rush hour.

My good friend @mezmira came to Paris to see me! Starting off the day with a surprisingly good breakfast at Cafe Marly. We exchanged life updates as we enjoyed watching the bustling crowds of the Louvre. After breakfast we decided to “warm up” a bit by going around the grounds of the Louvre and visited some spots where @lindaevangelista used to run during Paris fashion week in the 90s. 😉

@chololaurel and I did a bike tour of Paris today. Specifically in the La Marais and the Latin Quarter. Passed through majestic buildings, quaint squares, waterways and even saw eccentric pixelated artwork based off of computer games pasted on walls all over Paris. It was a nice way to get reacquainted with the city. The biggest surprise of all is, Paris has become a very bikeable city! Not to mention it was nice and sunny today, it was an afternoon well spent.

We spent the remainder of our visit here strolling through the garden. From the dome of the chateaux, you can actually get a 360 view of the property. By the way, the chateaux is seated North of the property and the garden runs South of it. It gets full sunlight from sunrise to sunset. It’s quite a design, I just couldn’t put it in detail because, it’s a lot.

We headed out to Chateau de Vaux Le Vicomte today. It is under an hour away from Paris on the RER. The history of this chateau is quite dramatic. To know in-depth, again google is your friend. The reason why this is a must see is because, this chateau is the reason my the Palace of Versailles was built. Na ingit si Louis XIV. If you’ve seen Versailles, you’ll see some similarities. The chateau is quite lovely, small but not over bearing. But I have to say the details painted, carved, drapped and gilded can lead you to the verge of sensory over load. Verge lang naman. Versailles was a “trip”. The owner of this chateau, Nicolas Focquet, had some taste, authenticity and ambition for his home. This was built in the mid 1600 in the Baroque style. Ganda! PS They have the best equipment for an audio guide I have ever tried!

Being that it’s a Sunday, @chololaurel and I headed to the flea market for some inspiration and special finds. 😉

Bonjour Paris! It’s nice to be back after 14 years. And thanks for the warm sun today! 😘

It’s our final day in Aix En Provence and all we did was walk. Managed to see wonderful views of Montagne Sainte-Victoire, quaint squares, bustling cafes, bright corners and sometimes stumbling on a beautiful Gothic church when we turned a corner. I later found out it was called Saint-Sauveur Cathedral, will definitely check that out when I come back next time. For now, Merci Beaucoup Aix! A Bientot!
