Eyeliner 101

I decided to make an eyeliner 101 video because, as a makeup artist, I am always asked about this particular makeup product. Although, I have to say that, this doesn’t cover the entire eyeliner market –  I am only showing you guys what I constantly use for work.

I know that applying eyeliner can be very tricky and as I have said in the video, applying and wearing this all depends on your eye shape and o your eye crease. On the video, I am showing you how I apply eyeliner on my eyes. If I was to classify my eyes, it is considered to be “Deep Set” eyes with a tendency to droop and look sleepy. So, if you have eyes like mine, this video might be a nice reference for you.

One other thing, while making this video, I realized that I left my eyeliner case full of Khol eyeliners in my home in Manila and I only have my “old stock” of Khol eyeliners with me here at my home in the province. Now, the Khol eyeliners from Sephora are still available at the Sephora.com website BUT they only sell the black and brown variants. I picked these pencils up at Sephora in Ion Orchard on my last trip to Singapore.

Cake eyeliners are quite difficult to find. I am not sure if Chanel still sells their take on cake eyeliners. Their version came in a two-pan compact, one pan was black and the other was blue. MUD Cosmetics sells two variants, black and brown cake eyeliners. Visit their website at www.mushop.com to see it. Laura Mercier has returned their cake eyeliners back into the market – they currently have 4 variants. Check their website at www.lauramercier.com.

The eyeliners that I used on the video are:

Eye Pencil from MUD Cosmetics in Rich Brown

NARS High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner in Via Veneto

Maybelline Eyestudio Master Kajal Eyeliner in Onyx Rush

Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Cobalt Ink

K-Palette Real Strong Eyeliner 24HWP in 01 Black

My flat eyeliner brush is from Laura Mercier. It is actually a dual ended eyeliner brush that came from a travel brush set years ago. I have LOTS of them. The full sized newly designed smudge brush, flat and pointed eyeliner brushes are currently available.

Crown Brushes also sell a version. Check them out at www.crownbrush.com

The products I am using has worked for me and it might not necessarily work for you. Always be discerning when purchasing cosmetics or skin care products. Always read the label and the literature! Always do a patch test before you purchase a product for the first time to see that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients listed.

This video/post is not sponsored. The products that are shown here are the products that I always use, love and live by.

The videos and pictures were shot using an Iphone 11.
