I created and posted this look on my instagram page on Febuary 17, 2014.

I was taping at the studio that week and there were talks about the color of the year. According to Pantone, it is called Radiant Orchid. So I decided to make that the  inspiration for this simple makeup look.

I was a bit apprehensive in creating this look, because I knew from the get go, that this look embodies an air of “coldness”.

I suggest breaking down this look if you want to use purple hues in your makeup look for day or night.

You can choose to emphasize either you eye or your lips and counter balance the look with neutral colors. BUT if you have a big personality and tons of confidence, then by all means, play with this color scheme for a make-up look.

To achieve this look, these are the products I used.

Click on the brand names or product names to be brought to their webpage to see a photo of the product that I used.

I used the same process in camouflaging and in applying the foundation as I stated in my previous post for #paukaymondays.

Concealer / Camouflage:

I applied an orange toned concealer/camouflage called Secret Camouflage S4 from Laura Mercier all over the freshly shaved area of my face to counter act the blueness of my beard.

I didn’t apply concealer in my under eye because the foundation that I was planning to use will conceal any under eye darkness present.

Foundation:

I decided to apply foundation a number of tones lighter than my skin tone to make my skin appear fair. I also did this so that the purple hues of this look will stand out.

In a patting motion using a latex sponge, I applied MAC Fullcoverage in NC 25 in layers all over my face. More product was layered on the bearded part of my face to “color correct” the initial application of the camouflage earlier.

Powder:

I decided to use Integrate’s Mineral Powder in 00 and 20 to set the foundation. With the accompanying powder puff on the compact, with a patting motion, I applied 00 to the T-Zone area of my face and under my eyes.

In a patting motion, I applied 20 to the rest of my face and neck.

IMG_7112Blush:

With a fan brush, I applied a light layer of NARS blush in Orgasam on top of my cheekbones.

Contour:

To make my nose appear smaller, Using a Laura Mercier Angled Eye Color Brush, I applied Laura Mercier’s Matte Eye Color in Truffle starting from the base of my inner brows, down the lateral side wall to the tips of my nose.

Eyes:

I first applied an eye base from Nars. Click here to be brought to a previous blog entry about eye bases.

From my Sephora + Pantone Universe Shades of Nature Eyeshadow Palette (click here to see a complete review from beautezine.com), I used the eyeshadow labeled as 12-2903 as an all over wash on my lids using a Laura Mercier All Over Eye Color Brush.

With a Laura Mercier’s Pony Tail Brush, I applied Laura Mercier’s Luster Eye Color in African Violet on the crease of my eye, blending towards my brow bone.

Chanel’s Ombre D’Eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in 727

To emphasize my eyes more, I used Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Colour  in Plum as my eyeliner, concentrating the color on the outer corners of my eyes, specifically on my upper and lower lids. I blended it out towards my crease using a Laura Mercier Creme Eye Detail Brush.

To open my eyes, at the inner corner of my eyes, I used Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst (currently not in production). To add some drama, I also added Chanel’s Ombre D’Eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in 727 on the area between my tear duct and nose.

I then applied Givenchey’s Phenomen’Eyes Mascara on my lashes for emphasis.

Brows:

I applied MAC’s  Brow Set in Boy Girl to lighten my brows and to keep it in shape.

Lips:

To create a matte ombre look, I applied a small amount of  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Hoochie With the accompanying lip brush. In the middle of my lips, I applied a cream highlight in Light from MUD cosmetics. To blend, I just pressed my lips together.

When everything was to my liking, I put on my blond wig and wrapped myself with my Mexican blanket. I settled in front of my lightbox, set my Iphone on timer and shot away.

When I posted this photo, I got a lot of comments saying that I looked liked a blond Sofia Vergara. Some even said there’s a hint of some Claudia Schiffer in the drag persona that I created for this look. Some of my pageant fanatic friends said I looked liked a Venezuelan Beauty Queen. After a while, I indeed looked liked a blond Ly Jonaitis, Miss Venezuela 2006 (2nd runner up at Miss Universe 2007).

The joys of make-up.
