A big “THANK YOU” to Sonia G and to Beautylish for sending me the Sonia G by Tesshyu “The Voyage Set”! I was not expecting this at all. I was prepared to live vicariously through the posts from other Fude enthusiasts that had access to this set. When I recieved word that I was getting this via PR, I got very excited. This is a very special set and I am eternally grateful to have been part of the PR list.

What makes this set extra special is that this is a collaboration collection between Sonia G and Master Artisan Tesshyu Takemori. Tesshyu -san is/was the master artisant  and former President and CEO of the beloved Kumano Fude brand, Chikuhodo. Master Tesshyu has recently stepped down from active duty in the company and I think this might be one of (if not) the last project he was over seeing. And if you read Sonia’s blog post about the “voyage” of this set, you can feel the warmth and respect that Sonia has for Master Tesshyu, this project and the people behind the Chikuhodo brand. And I feel , to a certain degree, that having this set is like being part of Sonia’s journey in our collective love for Fude.

I don’t have a ton of Grey Squirrell fude in my collection mainly because they are quite expensive. With the nature of my job, wherein I am always frequently washing brushes, I tend to favor more resilient brisltes – mostly gGoat. BUT once in a while certain brushes call out to me and The Voyage Set was one of them.

I will hold this set close to my heart and cherish it for always.
